Manchester United’s troubled start to the 2025-26 Premier League season continued on Sunday, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage. The result leaves United winless after two matches, following their opening defeat to Arsenal.
United had the chance to take control early, but captain Bruno Fernandes missed a first-half penalty. In the 58th minute, Leny Yoro’s deflected header gave United the lead, but substitute Emile Smith Rowe equalised 15 minutes later to rescue a point for the home side.
After the match, United head coach Ruben Amorim didn’t mince words, criticising his team’s mentality.
“I think we scored the goal and then we forgot about how we play. Everyone wanted to hold onto the advantage instead of pushing forward. That was the moment we needed to enjoy more and press the opponent,” Amorim told reporters.
He added that his side showed immaturity, leaving too much space while pressing high:
“We have to grow up a lot as a team. The players are working hard in training and on the pitch, and I believe we will improve. But the turning point of the game was our own goal.”
United now sit 16th in the league table with just one point from two games. They next face Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup, before taking on Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
