Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi begins his two-day visit to India today, holding crucial bilateral discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at 6 pm in New Delhi.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit aims to rebuild ties strained since the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes, even as both sides continue to maintain nearly 50,000–60,000 troops each along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
Wang Yi and NSA Ajit Doval will resume the Special Representatives’ dialogue on the boundary question on Tuesday. Later in the evening, Wang is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence.

This visit comes just days ahead of PM Modi’s planned trip to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, following a stop in Japan.
Recent efforts, including the revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and issuance of visas to Chinese nationals, highlight attempts at normalising relations.
