Bhubaneswar: Over 300 contractual workers of Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) launched a protest on Thursday over allegations that the company stopped issuing gate passes to mechanical workers.
The workers asserted that PPL abruptly stopped issuing them gate passes. Additionally, several agitators claimed that the company unexpectedly terminated their services, despite their having worked at the facility for over a decade.
“The contractor has not yet submitted approval to our terms and conditions guidelines for which their workers are unable to work for PPL or obtain a gate pass. As soon as the contractor accepts the contract, the issue will be resolved,” said Suvendu Biswal, a PPL human resource officer.
The protesting workers demanded the immediate reinstatement and allocation of work, while also cautioning that they would persist until their demands were fulfilled.
