Following a highly eventful India vs. England Test series, Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has posted an Instagram story that has left fans concerned about his recovery.
Pant, who scored 479 runs with two centuries and three half-centuries in four matches, suffered a fractured toe during the fourth Test in Manchester, which forced him to miss the final match of the series.
A Glimpse into Recovery
In his post, Pant shared a photo of his foot injury with the caption, “I hate this so much,” giving fans a glimpse into his painful recovery process. The post quickly went viral, with many expressing sympathy and wishing him a speedy return to the field.
During the series, Pant was hailed for his exceptional form, even playing a match with the fractured toe. His absence from the fifth Test was a major blow for the Indian team.
Aakash Chopra’s High Praise
Cricket analyst Aakash Chopra weighed in on Pant’s performance, suggesting the young cricketer is on track to surpass MS Dhoni’s Test run tally. In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra noted that Pant has already scored eight Test centuries, two more than Dhoni’s six, despite playing fewer matches.
“MS Dhoni is at the top in terms of the number of matches played and runs scored. He has played 90 games… scored 4,876 runs,” Chopra said. “Rishabh Pant has already scored eight centuries and MS Dhoni had six. Rishabh Pant is already in the second spot… If he plays more, he will obviously go ahead of MS Dhoni.”
Chopra also highlighted Pant’s impressive record in England, where he has scored over 1,000 runs with four centuries, calling him “India’s No. 1 wicketkeeper-batter ever.” He concluded by saying that Pant will likely finish his career as one of the finest wicketkeeper-batters in the world.
