Jagatsinghpur: A man and his nephew reportedly died after consuming a chemical used for mushroom farming at Sirasta village under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Gopabandhu Samal and his nephew Bibhuti Samal, residents of Shirasta village.
Family members reported that the two individuals experienced chest and stomach pain after having dinner with alcohol last night. Initially, they were taken to the Patkura Community Health Centre.
As their health worsened, they were transferred to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital, where they eventually died from their ailments. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
“The duo has died after consuming a medicine meant to spray on mushrooms. The investigation is considering various aspects”, clarifies Jagatsinghpur SP.
