Two CRPF jawans sustained serious injuries in an IED explosion triggered by Maoists in the Saranda jungle near the Odisha-Jharkhand border.
The blast occurred during a routine combing operation under the jurisdiction of Jeraikela police station.
Sources indicate that the explosion caused deep injuries to the legs and arms of both personnel. Emergency evacuation procedures were initiated, and both jawans are being airlifted to a specialised medical facility for advanced treatment.
Security forces have intensified surveillance in the region, and a high alert has been issued across bordering districts. The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by Maoist insurgents in the forested terrains of eastern India.
