Bengaluru: After a two-year wait, over 1,000 engineering graduates received confirmation emails from Infosys on Monday. The company has set October 7 as the joining date for these graduates.
“Your joining date is scheduled for October 7, 2024, and you will be employed in Mysore, India,” stated the Infosys talent acquisition team in communications to some graduates.
This news comes on the heels of reports that around 1,500 students from the April 2022 batch, who had received offer letters, were seeking clarity on their employment status after completing two rounds of pre-training in July and August.
Harpreet Singh Saluja, president of the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), expressed his satisfaction: “After persistent efforts and a formal complaint lodged by NITES, Infosys has at last issued joining letters to over 1,000 campus recruits today—and the count is still rising. These graduates, who have been in limbo for more than two years, now have a set joining date of October 7, 2024. This marks a major triumph for NITES and the students who stood firm despite the prolonged uncertainty.”
Saluja added a cautionary note: “We will remain on guard… should Infosys fail to fulfil this promise and miss the joining date, we are prepared to stage a protest outside the Infosys office.”
Since April 2022, about 2,000 engineering graduates from that year’s cohort have faced onboarding delays after receiving offers from Infosys for a system engineer and digital SE positions, with annual salaries ranging between Rs 3.2 and 3.7 lahks.
