In a move to cater to growing passenger demand and ensure safer rail operations, the East Coast Railway has announced the extension of several special train services while temporarily cancelling select trains to facilitate critical safety-related modernisation works in the Kottavalasa-Pendurthi section of the Waltair Division.
Extended Special Train Services for Passenger Convenience
To accommodate the increasing travel needs, the East Coast Railway has extended the periodicity of the following special trains:
Visakhapatnam-Tirupati-Visakhapatnam (Train No. 08547/08548): This special train will now operate until September 24, 2025, from Visakhapatnam and until September 25, 2025, from Tirupati, ensuring seamless connectivity between these key destinations. –
Visakhapatnam-Charlapalli-Visakhapatnam (Train No. 08579/08580): Services have been extended until September 26, 2025, from Visakhapatnam and September 27, 2025, from Charlapalli.
Udhna-Khurda Road-Udhna (Train No. 09059/09060): This train will run until September 24, 2025, from Udhna and September 26, 2025, from Khurda Road, supporting long-distance travellers.
Temporary Train Cancellations for Safety Upgrades
To prioritise safety and infrastructure modernisation, the East Coast Railway will undertake essential works in the Kottavalasa-Pendurthi section from August 6 to August 9, 2025. As a result, the following train services will be cancelled: –
Visakhapatnam-Brahmapur Express (Train No. 18526): Cancelled from Visakhapatnam between August 6 and August 8, 2025. –
Brahmapur-Visakhapatnam Express (Train No. 18525): Cancelled from Brahmapur between August 7 and August 9, 2025.
These cancellations are necessary to facilitate critical upgrades that will enhance the safety and efficiency of rail operations in the region.
