Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan, declaring that any future terror attack against India would be met with a decisive response using indigenous weapon systems, including BrahMos missiles manufactured in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking at a public event in Varanasi, Modi announced, “BrahMos missiles will now be manufactured in Lucknow… and if Pakistan commits any sin again, missiles made in UP will destroy the terrorists.” He added that just the mention of BrahMos is enough to keep Pakistan “awake at night.”

The Prime Minister lauded India’s growing defence capabilities, pointing to the success of Operation Sindoor as proof of the strength of Atmanirbhar Bharat. “Our Air Defence Systems, missiles, and drones have shown the world the power of indigenous weapons,” he said.

Highlighting the UP Defence Corridor, Modi noted that several major defence firms are setting up manufacturing units in the state. “Made-in-India weapons will soon be the backbone of our armed forces,” he asserted.

Amid global instability, Modi stressed the importance of economic self-reliance and political unity, urging citizens to adopt swadeshi products. “We will buy only those things that are made by Indians… we must become vocal for local,” he said.

The comments come days after US President Donald Trump labelled India a “dead economy” while criticising its ties with Russia and imposing a 25% tariff on Indian goods.
