Bengaluru: A doctor who went missing from his official quarter on June 1 was rescued in Karnataka on Wednesday.
The doctor has been identified as Amlan Bhoi, posted in Kalimela CHC in the district.
As per reports, Amlan attended hospital duty and returned to his government quarters in the afternoon on the fateful day. However, he was found missing from his residence the next morning.
Meanwhile, Malkangiri police traced the missing doctor from Karnataka. This has been revealed by Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) refuting the Maoist abduction angle in the case.
Based on a complaint filed by the health centre officials of CHC, Kalimela police initiated an investigation and launched a manhunt for Bhoi.
It is learnt that miscreants had abducted the doctor for carrying out a post-mortem on an unidentified body in Karnataka. A police team will be sent to Karnataka to bring him back to Odisha.
Talking to the media, Malkangiri SP said, “Dr Amlan Bhoi has been located. He is safe and sound. He is being brought to Malkangiri from Karnataka.”
Earlier, media reports suggested that Bhoi was abducted by Maoists. But Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel denied any role of Maoists in Bhoi’s disappearance.
