Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal on Saturday dismissed speculations regarding a possible Cabinet reshuffle in the state, clarifying that his recent three-day visit to New Delhi focused solely on organisational matters.
“There was no discussion on cabinet expansion in Delhi,” Samal told reporters upon returning to Bhubaneswar. “Our meetings were related to pending organisational work, not ministerial changes.”
Samal stressed that appointments to state boards and corporations will be made “at the appropriate time” and that any meetings with central leaders, including courtesy calls, were unrelated to governance changes.
The BJP chief confirmed that internal organisational restructuring is underway in Odisha, with a new committee and leadership lineup expected soon. “A new BJP committee will be formed in Odisha. A new president for that committee will also be chosen,” he said.
Responding to the Congress party’s plan to bring a no-confidence motion against the BJP government, Samal stated, “The Opposition has every right to move such a motion. We are prepared to face it.”
Political observers believe the ongoing organisational revamp could set the stage for future governance decisions once the party’s state leadership is fully streamlined.
