The Cuttack district administration has cancelled all government staff leave and directed offices to remain open on Saturday, as continuous rainfall caused by a Bay of Bengal depression has led to severe waterlogging across parts of Odisha.
According to an official release from the District Information and Public Relations Office (DIPRO), all officers and staff must report to their respective headquarters without fail. Disciplinary action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the attendance order.
Rainfall and Preparedness
The depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified on Friday, bringing incessant rain and flood risks to multiple regions. In Cuttack, the Municipal Corporation (CMC) has deployed teams to test and operate motor pumps to mitigate waterlogging.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.
The administration is focusing on maintaining essential services and ensuring a quick response to any emergencies caused by the adverse weather conditions.
