Speaking at the Samvidhan Bachao Samavesh in Bhubaneswar on Friday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Odisha government, accusing it of exploiting the state’s poor for the benefit of a few billionaires.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the current BJP-led government in Odisha, much like the previous BJD regime, is “stealing the wealth of Odisha from the hands of the poor.”
“Earlier, the BJD government did this, and now the BJP government is doing the same. On one side are the poor people of Odisha—Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, farmers, and labourers—and on the other side are 5-6 billionaires and the BJP government. This is the real fight,” Gandhi said.
He asserted that only the Congress workers, in alliance with the people of Odisha, can win this battle and ensure justice and equality.
The Congress leader’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions in the state, with both BJP and Congress vying for public support in the wake of shifting political equations following the 2024 general elections.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit is part of his broader ‘Samvidhan Bachao Yatra’, aimed at rallying public support to “protect the Constitution and democratic values.”
