In a groundbreaking move that signals Odisha’s growing presence in the AI innovation ecosystem, IIT Bhubaneswar—alongside tech venture Jazzee—hosted the state’s first-ever GenAI Hackathon, “Trillion Dollar Opportunity 2025,” from July 3–5.
The event drew 447 aspiring student developers across 126 teams from institutions nationwide, with only 11 elite teams comprising 40 students advancing to the on-campus grand finale. Held within the hallowed grounds of IIT Bhubaneswar, the 48-hour nonstop coding marathon fused creativity, mentorship, and problem-solving to forge AI solutions with tangible societal impact.
The opening ceremony welcomed thought leaders like Prof. V. Pandu Ranga, Dean of Continuing Education at IIT Bhubaneswar; Dr. Ranjan Kumar Pradhan, Director of OUTR-FINE; Prof. Prasant Kumar Sahu from IIT-BBS; and Mr. Suchit Mishra, Founder and CEO of Jazzee.
Winners Who Stole the AI Spotlight:
- 🥇 Team Evolve AI (Chitkara University, Punjab): ₹50,000
- 🥈 Team AlphaQ (VIT Chennai & IIIT Gwalior): ₹30,000
- 🥉 Team K2013 (IISER Berhampur & Seneca Polytechnic): ₹20,000
The finale was elevated by the presence of Prof. Jaideep Talukdar (VC, Silicon University), Prof. Debi Prosad Dogra (HoD, CSE, IIT Bhubaneswar), and Prof. Prasant Kumar Sahu, who applauded the participants for pushing boundaries and embracing the AI future.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Suchit Mishra emphasised, “We are living in an age of abundance—where AI is set to abstract complexity and unlock limitless opportunities for every developer.”
With GenAI poised to redefine industries and economies, this hackathon marks not only a technological milestone but also a defining moment in Odisha’s contribution to India’s digital innovation narrative.
