Sambalpur: Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) catapulted itself onto the cosmic stage as it proudly represented the VSS Space Innovation Centre (VSSSIC) at the prestigious Space Week organized by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri.
This groundbreaking event, held between October 4th – 6th 2023, saw VSSSIC students and faculty members showcasing their technical prowess and unwavering dedication to the field of space exploration.
VSSSIC, an initiative emerged from the advent of first student based satellite launch vehicle project led by VSSUT, aims to contribute to India’s space endeavors. At Spaceweek, the team exhibited their cutting-edge research and innovations in rocketry, satellite technology, and space exploration.
The event provided a glimpse into the future of space technology, with VSSUT’s participation underscoring the university’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of space scientists and engineers. Students had the opportunity to interact with industry experts and ISRO scientists, gaining valuable insights into the field.
The event included various themes of Space and Entrepreneurship as well as development of
New Sensors, Calibration techniques for satellite data, micro and nano satellites and prototype models of space technology were displayed at Puri.
The student’s team interacted with the Ministry of Home Affairs about the future aspects of VSLV project as well as various undergoing projects of the university like Cansat, Picosat using RF harvesting, etc along with the entrepreneurs of their startup Telenae motivating thousands of students to step for their dreams incorporating the theme of space and entrepreneurship on the ground level.
Our studen members – Ayushman Jena, Shubhankar Panda, Suvham Nayak, Subranshu Ranjan Das and other members along with respective mentor guide Dr. Nivedita Patel had opportunity to interact with respected dignitaries – Shri A Rajarajan (Director SDSC SHAR), Senthil Kumar R., (Deputy Director SDSC SHAR), and honourable chief Guest Prof. Ganeshi Lal (His excellency Governer of Odisha) and respected members of SDSC SHAR.
The VSSSIC team received accolades and awards for their stellar projects – VSLV securing first prize, followed by Cansat, Rover, RF harvesting in Picosat using piezoelectric material and second runner up with Silo launchpad, Static test stand and Telenae in the realm of space research and entrepreneurship. This recognition serves as a springboard for even greater achievements on the limitless milestones ahead.
With their participation in Space Week, VSSUT reaffirms its commitment to scientific excellence and its dedication to taking India’s space endeavors to new heights.
