In a repeat of yesterday’s mishap, the iconic Brahma Taladhwaja chariot took an unanticipated left turn and stalled near Chandana Pokhari during the Ratha Yatra procession in Kendrapara.
The incident triggered fresh concerns among devotees and organisers alike.
Eyewitnesses say the chariot, revered as a divine symbol, was being pulled with fervour when it veered left unexpectedly and became lodged off course. Technical teams swiftly brought in a railway jack to realign the wheels and bring the massive wooden structure back on track.

Sources suggest that route adjustments and minor misalignments may be contributing factors behind the derailments seen in recent years.
Devotees expressed both disappointment and worry, as this marks yet another interruption in the sacred journey. Many called for better route planning and rigorous dry runs ahead of such high-profile religious events to preserve the sanctity and safety of the festival.
This isn’t the first instance of such a mishap during Kendrapara’s Rath Yatra. Last year, a similar issue disrupted the event, raising questions about the route infrastructure and planning for such massive wooden chariots.
