Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is expected to visit Puri on Friday to attend the Rath Yatra 2025, one of India’s most sacred and widely celebrated religious festivals.
Though an official confirmation is pending, local authorities are making extensive preparations for his likely presence, including a visit to have darshan of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra atop their majestic chariots.
To ensure smooth proceedings and public safety, the Odisha Police has put in place a five-tier security system, deploying over 10,000 personnel, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), and AI-enabled CCTV surveillance across Puri. Drone monitoring and Indian Coast Guard deployment along the coastline further bolster the setup. With lakhs of devotees expected and several VVIPs likely to attend, including the Vice President, the Puri district administration aims to ensure a safe and spiritually enriching experience for all.
The annual Rath Yatra, steeped in history and devotion, continues to attract global attention, marking Puri as a vital hub of India’s cultural and religious heritage.
