A decomposed body of a youth was recovered today from the Sarakunda jungle near the Gitarani mine under Koira police limits, raising concerns of a possible suicide.
Clothes and a rope found hanging from a tree at the site have led police to suspect that the deceased may have taken his own life.
Preliminary identification suggests the body could be that of Abhisek Nayak (23), a resident of Narayanpur village under Joda police limits in Keonjhar district. Nayak had reportedly been missing since June 10 while working under Triveni Earthmovers, a subcontractor at the Gitaraani Mahanti mines.
Koida police seized the body and identified belongings like mining boots and clothing found at the scene. The body has been sent for autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the exact cause of death. Further investigation is underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
