In anticipation of significant public turnout and traffic congestion during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit, the Odisha Government has declared a half-day holiday on June 20, 2025, for all government offices functioning under the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department, in an official notification issued by order of the Governor, announced that government offices, including Revenue and Magisterial Courts (Executive), will remain closed in the second half of the working day.
The decision comes ahead of the PM’s participation in a state-level event scheduled to be held at Janata Maidan, a venue that typically draws massive crowds during high-profile visits.
Authorities have urged residents to make early travel arrangements, as security and traffic restrictions are expected across major routes in the city. Officials have also advised office-goers and commuters to stay updated on route diversions and avoid the vicinity of Janata Maidan in the latter half of the day.
This preventive measure aims to ensure the smooth movement of VIP convoys and facilitate crowd management during the Prime Minister’s visit.
