The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) convened a high-level meeting with Air India and Air India Express officials to evaluate operational efficiency, fleet maintenance, and passenger service compliance amid rising concerns over flight delays and cancellations.

DGCA flagged Air India’s engineering and operational bottlenecks, advising strengthened internal communication and improved spare part availability to reduce disruptions.

Recent airspace closures, particularly over Iran, led to flight diversions and cancellations. DGCA urged airlines to ensure passengers receive real-time updates and suggested alternate routing strategies.

Airlines were reminded of their regulatory obligations to notify passengers in advance about delays and cancellations, improving service transparency.

Surveillance results showed no major safety concerns within Air India’s Boeing 787 fleet, with the majority of aircraft successfully completing mandated checks.

DGCA recommended enhanced real-time defect reporting mechanisms to streamline decision-making and minimise operational interruptions.

The aviation body reviewed operational statistics, with special emphasis on Air India’s Boeing 787 flights, analysing cancellation patterns and fleet performance.
