New Delhi: Indian defence forces are keeping a close watch on the situation in Pakistan, defence sources were quoted as saying as violent protests erupted in the neighbouring country after the dramatic arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The sources also said that a strong vigil is being maintained by the Army along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.
“Defence forces keeping a close watch on the situation in Pakistan, in view of the developments there. Strong vigil being maintained by the forces along the Line of Control and the international border,” Defence sources were quoted as saying by ANI.
Former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested and bundled into a prison van by paramilitary Rangers on Tuesday from the Islamabad High Court. His arrest sparked massive protests across Pakistan by his supporters who stormed the army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 has been clamped at several places following large scale violence.
