Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the State-Level Vikas Mela 2025 at IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, marking the first anniversary of the state government.
The week-long event, running until June 18, showcases the government’s achievements and commitment to public welfare under the theme “People’s Chief Minister, People’s Government.”
The Vikas Mela features over 175 stalls, with 75 highlighting welfare schemes and 40+ managed by Subhadra Shakti Women groups presenting traditional Odia cuisine. The fair aims to educate citizens about government initiatives through interactive displays on handlooms, handicrafts, and local products. A vibrant food festival celebrates Odisha’s culinary diversity, drawing crowds to explore regional flavours.
In his address, CM Majhi emphasised the government’s success in fulfilling election promises within a year. “We have turned the aspirations of Odisha’s people into reality, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision,” he said. Key achievements include implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, increasing farmers’ income by Rs 30,000 annually through the Krushak Kalyan Yojana, and creating 12.90 lakh job opportunities via Rs 17 lakh crore investments under Utkarsh Odisha 2025. The government has also cracked down on corruption, ensuring accountability from peons to IAS officers.
Majhi highlighted efforts to empower marginalised sections, including women, youth, and tribal communities. The age limit for government jobs was raised to 42, and 11.25% of higher education seats were reserved for SEBC students. Over 27,000 government jobs have been provided, with plans to engage citizens further through constituency visits.
Deputy CM Pravati Parida and Minister Pradeep Bal Samant attended, reinforcing the goal of a self-reliant Odisha. The event, organised by the Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Department, underscores the state’s progress toward inclusive development.
