BJD protests BJP governance failures Odisha

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced two major conferences in Jajpur (June 13) and Puri (June 18) to protest what it describes as the failures of the BJP government in Odisha over the past year.

As the BJP celebrates its first anniversary, the BJD aims to highlight unfulfilled promises and governance issues affecting women, youth, and students.

Senior BJD leaders Pramila Mallick and Sanjay Dasburma have criticised the BJP for allegedly halting Mission Shakti, a women empowerment scheme launched by former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Mallick also accused the BJP of delaying the Subhadra Yojana, turning the promised ₹50,000 financial aid into ten instalments over five years instead of two.

Dasburma pointed out failures in youth employment, citing the BJP’s unfulfilled pledge to provide 150,000 jobs. He also highlighted exam-related confusion, including question paper leaks in OJS, Staff Selection, and OPSC exams, leading to cancellations and mental distress for candidates.

The June 13 conference in Jajpur will focus on the impact of governance lapses on women, while the June 18 event in Puri will highlight youth employment issues and education challenges under the BJP rule.

Through these events, the BJD seeks to mobilise public support and challenge the BJP’s governance record, drawing attention to promises left unfulfilled in Odisha’s political landscape.
