Although India failed to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, they still secured a substantial reward from the International Cricket Council (ICC) — a prize money of $1.44 million, approximately ₹12.32 crore.

This amount closely rivals what past WTC champions New Zealand (2021) and Australia (2023) earned for winning the title.

The ICC increased the overall prize pool for the 2023–25 WTC cycle to $3.6 million, aiming to reaffirm its commitment to promoting Test cricket. India, who had reached the finals in the previous two editions, finished third this time after losing crucial series — 0-3 at home to New Zealand and 1-3 away to Australia — despite leading the table at various points.

Here is the World Test Championship (WTC) final prize money distribution according to the standings:

South Africa topped the standings with a win percentage of 69.44, followed by Australia at 67.54, securing their place in the final at Lord’s on June 11. The champions will take home a record $3.6 million, while the runners-up will receive $2.16 million. India, as the third-place finisher, ranks ahead of New Zealand ($1.2M), England ($960K), Sri Lanka ($840K), Bangladesh ($720K), West Indies ($600K), and Pakistan ($480K).

The ICC stated that the enhanced prize distribution reflects its intent to build upon the success of the WTC and reinforce the value of red-ball cricket.
