Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended Sri Manoj Mohanty, Section Officer at the office of the Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer (SDVO), Puri, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
The bribe was reportedly sought to process the drawl of an Electric Vehicle (EV) advance already sanctioned by the government for the complainant and three others. With no alternative, the complainant approached the vigilance authorities, leading to a trap operation that caught Mohanty red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The entire trap money has been recovered and seized. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches at two locations linked to Mohanty are underway to investigate any disproportionate assets. A case has been registered under Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 10/2025, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is ongoing.
Authorities continue their efforts to curb corruption, ensuring that government funds reach rightful beneficiaries without unlawful interference.
