In a bid to expedite the completion of the Rengali Irrigation Project, the 5th Project Governing Committee meeting was held on June 2, 2025, under the leadership of Smt. Anu Garg, IAS, DC-cum-Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Odisha, Water Resources Department.
The meeting, conducted at Lok Seva Bhawan, focused on clearing major hurdles related to land acquisition, forest diversion proposals, and railway coordination that have been delaying the project’s progress.
To ensure smooth implementation, Smt. Garg has personally followed up with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, to resolve financial bottlenecks and streamline approvals. The government has now set a one-month deadline for resolving all critical issues, with another review meeting scheduled in July 2025 to assess progress. Stakeholders have been urged to address concerns swiftly to accelerate the project’s completion.
The Rengali Irrigation Project aims to improve agricultural irrigation capacity in Odisha, providing vital water supply to farmers and boosting regional development. As the government pushes to resolve pending bottlenecks, the project remains a priority for infrastructural growth in the state.
