The Additional District and Sessions Judge Court has sentenced Pramod Kumar Sahu to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in a heinous acid attack on a father and son.
The attack, which took place in 2023, sent shockwaves through the local community.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the Phulbani Town police station area when Sahu targeted the victims, leaving them seriously injured. Both were swiftly admitted to Phulbani Hospital for urgent treatment.
The conviction relied on testimony from 17 witnesses, reinforcing the strength of the prosecution’s case. Apart from the prison sentence, Sahu was fined Rs 50,000, with an additional six months of imprisonment if the fine remains unpaid.
Government counsel Siba Prasad Tripathy acknowledged the significance of the verdict, stating, “This was one of the most talked-about acid attack cases in Phulbani, and justice has finally been delivered.”
The sentencing marks the closure of a disturbing case that sparked widespread concern regarding safety and justice for acid attack victims.
