NITI Aayog has released a groundbreaking report, “Designing a Policy for Medium Enterprises”, laying out a strategic vision to elevate India’s medium enterprises as the drivers of economic transformation under Viksit Bharat @2047.
The report identifies targeted interventions across finance, technology, infrastructure, research, and skill development to unlock the sector’s immense potential.
Despite comprising just 0.3% of the MSME sector, medium enterprises contribute 40% of MSME exports, showcasing their untapped capability. The report outlines key measures, including a ₹5 crore credit facility, integration with Industry 4.0 solutions, dedicated R&D cells, and cluster-based testing infrastructure to ensure compliance and quality enhancement.
Vice Chairman Shri Suman Bery, along with NITI Aayog Members Dr. V.K. Saraswat and Dr. Arvind Virmani, unveiled the report, emphasising that a shift toward inclusive policy design and collaborative governance is essential to boost medium enterprises.
By implementing these strategic recommendations, medium enterprises can evolve into innovation-led, globally competitive entities, fueling India’s GDP growth, employment, and export expansion.
