The Orissa High Court has rejected the bail plea of BJD leader Raja Chakra in connection with the Gandhamardan Mine Loading Agency Corruption case.
Along with Raja Chakra, three of his associates—Manas Barik, Utkal Das, and Sushant Samal—also had their bail applications dismissed.
The case pertains to alleged financial irregularities in the loading agency operations at Gandhamardan Mines, which led to substantial illegal earnings. Following an investigation, the Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) arrested Raja Chakra and his associates.
Authorities revealed that the agency accumulated an income of Rs 185 crore between 2017 and March 2024, raising concerns about corruption and mismanagement. The Crime Branch Director General disclosed these details in a press briefing.
The rejection of bail petitions has intensified legal proceedings, while further investigations are underway to uncover deeper financial misappropriations.
