The state government is set to present the budget for the financial year 2025-26 on Monday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will unveil the complete budget in the State Legislative Assembly.

This budget includes several important aspects aimed at the development of the state. It is anticipated that the size of the government’s budget for the financial year 2025-26 may reach Rs 2.85 lakh crores.

In comparison, the state government had previously approved an expenditure estimate of Rs 2.65 lakh crores for the financial year 2024-25. Following this, an additional budget of Rs 12.156 crores was sanctioned to expedite certain schemes and cover expenses for various government programs.

The state government has announced that priority will be given in the budget to solar power projects, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Subhadra Yojana, input subsidies on rice for farmers, a pension of Rs 3000 for the elderly, and the Ayushman Yojana.

In response to the upcoming budget, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated that the state government has made considerable efforts to advance the state over the last eight months. He pointed out that the government has successfully implemented the Jan Kalyankar Yojana, promoted women’s empowerment, and strengthened administrative processes. He emphasized that the performance of the current BJP government surpasses that of the previous administration.

The budget for the financial year 2025-26 has been crafted with the aim of further accelerating the state’s development in the coming years. The government plans to introduce many new schemes and has prioritized employment, enhancing the earning capacity of the population, strengthening Odisha’s economic situation, industrialization, and infrastructure development. This budget will focus on achieving the goals set by the state government for the next five years.
