After a five-year pause, the revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is set to resume in June 2025, marking a significant moment for pilgrims eager to undertake the sacred trek.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has officially announced the reopening of registration, with the deadline set for May 13, 2025.

The pilgrimage, known for its spiritual significance and challenging terrain, offers two distinct routes for devotees:

  • Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) – A trekking route with five batches, each accommodating 50 pilgrims.
  • Nathu La Pass (Sikkim) – A motorable route, allowing ten batches of 50 pilgrims.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be Indian citizens between 18 and 70 years old, possess a valid Indian passport, and maintain a BMI below 25. Additionally, participants are required to be medically fit to endure the high-altitude conditions of the journey.

Spiritual & Cultural Significance: The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is regarded as one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, drawing devotees from across the country and beyond. The return of the Yatra has been met with enthusiasm, as thousands of aspirants are expected to register for the journey in the coming weeks.

For further details, interested pilgrims can visit the official MEA portal and complete their registration before the deadline.

Routes and Batches:

The 2025 Yatra will be conducted via two primary routes:

  • Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand): This route involves trekking and will accommodate five batches, each comprising 50 pilgrims.
  • Nathu La Pass (Sikkim): A motorable route suitable for those unable to undertake strenuous trekking. Ten batches of 50 pilgrims each are scheduled for this path.

Cost:

The estimated cost for the Lipulekh Pass route is approximately 1.74 lakh per person. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

  • Confirmation amount: Rs 5,000
  • Balance due before departure: Rs 51,000
  • Medical Examination Fees: Rs 5,500
  • Stress Echo Test (if advised): Rs 2,500
  • China visa fee: Rs 2,400
  • Contribution towards group activities: Rs 4,000
  • Amount payable in Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR): $1,200 (approximately Rs 1.2 lakh)
  • Note: Costs for the Nathu La route may vary; please refer to the official website for specifics.

Pilgrims will be selected through a computerised, gender-balanced process conducted by the Ministry of External Affairs. Applicants can request to travel with a companion, though accommodations depend on individual eligibility and availability.

Selected applicants will receive notifications via their registered email and mobile number. They must then pay the confirmation fee to secure their spot. For assistance, the helpline at 011-23088133 is available.
