Smt. Usha Padhee, the Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department, visited Nicco Park to assess its condition and discuss future development plans.
During her visit, she reviewed the restoration progress of Blue Ways on Drain No. 4 near Vani Vihar. Smt. Padhee also toured the Affordable Housing Project (AHP) at Buddha Vihar in Chandrasekharpur.
Accompanying her were Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Vice-Chairman Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, along with senior officials from the BDA.
While at Nicco Park, officials examined the park’s infrastructure, paying special attention to Drain No. 10 that runs through the area. They discussed existing challenges and recent initiatives aimed at revitalizing the drain. The focus of these discussions was on creating a sustainable and revenue-generating development model that ensures long-term success while aligning with environmental goals. This visit marked an important step in the park’s redevelopment, aiming to balance ecological preservation with economic growth.
Smt. Padhee also inspected the rejuvenation efforts for Drain No. 4 near Vani Vihar, where officials updated her on the master plan and current progress. She emphasized the importance of preserving existing trees during the project and maintaining proper drainage slopes to support water runoff and groundwater recharge.
Later, she visited the Affordable Housing Project at Buddha Vihar in Chandrasekharpur, where she evaluated the colony’s infrastructure and interacted with residents. The focus of this visit was on improving sanitation and living conditions for the community.
