In a significant push for the recognition of Kudo as an official state-level sport, a delegation from the Odisha Kudo Association, including coaches, athletes, and officials, met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today at Lok Seva Bhavan.

The delegation urged the state government to grant formal recognition to Kudo, a hybrid martial art that blends elements of Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo.

Kudo, which has garnered attention across India and abroad, has established a strong presence in various districts of Odisha, with extensive training programs shaping the next generation of martial artists. The Odisha Kudo Association has been instrumental in promoting the sport, fostering discipline and self-defense skills among youth.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi engaged with Kudo practitioners and acknowledged their dedication to the sport.

He assured the delegation that the proposal for state recognition would be considered and encouraged athletes to continue their training and uphold the values of sportsmanship.

Senior officials including Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, and head coach of Odisha Kudo Association, Nitai Shankar Guin, were also present. Their support further strengthens the movement to elevate Kudo’s status in Odisha’s sports landscape.

The recognition of Kudo as a state-level sport could open new avenues for aspiring athletes, fostering its growth and integrating it into mainstream competitive sports.
