Maoists killed Muchaki Rama, the deputy sarpanch of Tarlaguda village panchayat in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

The incident took place in Benpalli village under the Jagargunda police station limits on Monday afternoon.

According to local authorities, a group of Maoists forcefully took Rama from his home before his body was discovered later. Police have initiated an investigation while sending his body for a post-mortem.

This attack adds to a growing list of Maoist-related killings in the Bastar division this year, bringing the total to nine so far. In 2024, the Bastar region witnessed 68 civilian deaths due to similar violent incidents.

Security forces continue operations against Maoist groups in the region as tensions escalate.
