Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has officially signed Gujarat’s wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as a replacement for Vansh Bedi, who suffered a ligament tear in his left ankle, ruling him out for the remainder of IPL 2025.
The addition of Patel strengthens CSK’s batting depth and keeping options as they push toward the business end of the tournament. Patel, known for his explosive batting, made headlines in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy when he scored a blistering 100 off just 28 balls, tying the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian.
Prior to this, Patel had been a part of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023, showcasing his abilities in domestic T20 cricket. His IPL statistics include 47 T20 matches with 1,162 runs to his name, proving his capability as a dependable batter. CSK secured Patel at his base price of INR 30 Lakh, and fans eagerly await his debut in the yellow jersey.
The IPL 2025 season has seen multiple player replacements due to injuries. Sunrisers Hyderabad signed Harsh Dubey to replace Smaran Ravichandran, while Punjab Kings roped in Mitch Owen as a replacement for the injured Glenn Maxwell.
CSK fans are optimistic about Patel’s potential to make an impact. With his aggressive batting style, he could be a crucial addition to the MS Dhoni-led squad, contributing to their campaign in IPL 2025.
