Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strongly condemn the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists, on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a conversation described as “firm and supportive,” Putin expressed deep condolences for the victims and pledged full Russian support in India’s ongoing battle against terrorism.

According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Putin stressed that the attackers and their enablers must face justice, underscoring Russia’s solidarity with India during a period of heightened tensions with Pakistan.

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), President Putin conveyed Russia’s full support to India in its fight against terrorism. He emphasised the importance of bringing the perpetrators and their supporters to justice for the heinous act.

The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, with a shared focus on combating terrorism and maintaining peace.

In addition, Prime Minister Modi extended his greetings to President Putin on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day. PM Modi also invited President Putin to attend the Annual Summit, which is scheduled to be held in India later this year.
