Cuttack: Cuttack Collector has warned to withheld salaries of Health and Anganwadi workers who refuse to take COVID-19 vaccine even after registration.
The direction of Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani on Thursday said that the health workers and Anganwadi workers will have to take COVID-19 vaccine ‘positively’ by February 10.
The letter from the Collectorate was given to Municipal Commissioner, Principal & Dean of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Director of Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer, SCB MCH Superintendent, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishubhawan) Superintendent, Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer and District Social Welfare Officer.
The officials were asked to aware the health and Anganwadi workers in their respective jurisdiction to turn up for coronavirus vaccination.
Cuttack had achieved 53.3 per cent of the district’s COVID vaccination target so far till Thursday. The Health and Family Welfare Department’s data said of the targeted 29,624 beneficiaries in the first phase of vaccination, 15,776 have received the COVID jabs in Cuttack.
Reports said there was a major improvement in the beneficiaries’ footfall across Cuttack on Thursday. Of the planned vaccination of 1,052, 942 persons turned up to receive COVISHIELD vaccine.
A Health Department official said Cuttack district witnessed 89.5 per cent vaccination on February 4.
