The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that Odisha will experience no major change in daytime temperatures over the next five days. However, a slight rise in maximum temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius is expected thereafter, as per their latest update.

The IMD attributed the current stability in temperature to the ongoing thunderstorm activities, commonly known as ‘Kalbaisakhi’, which are likely to persist across various districts throughout the week.

In its advisory, the IMD has issued orange and yellow alerts for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph, and heavy rain in parts of the state.

Detailed Forecast:
Day 1 (Till 8:30 AM, April 29):

Orange Alert: Thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 50–60 kmph likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda.

Yellow Alert: Thunderstorms with winds up to 30–40 kmph expected in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and several other districts.

Day 2 (April 29 – April 30):

Orange Alert: Thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds (50–60 kmph) along with possible hailstorms in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.

Yellow Alert: Similar weather conditions anticipated in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

Day 3 (April 30 – May 1):

Yellow Alert: Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and winds up to 40–50 kmph likely in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Cuttack.

Day 4 (May 1 – May 2):

Yellow Alert: Continued risk of thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds across Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
