Bhubaneswar: A youth has been thrashed by an angry mob for putting “Sindoor” on a girl student’s forehead in Bhubaneswar yesterday. The accused is from Sakhigopal in Puri district.
Reportedly, the incident occurred while the girl was going to attend an exam when the unknown person, said to be the accused youth, suddenly intercepted the girl and applied ‘sindoor’ on her forehead.
The girl immediately protested the action of the accused. Following this, locals managed to nab the youth and thrashed him black and blue before handover to the police.
However, the accused was walked away from the police custody as no FIR was lodged against him, sources said.
