The Indian government has taken a firm stance against BBC India’s report that described the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack as “militants” instead of “terrorists.”

A letter expressing objections was sent to Jackie Martin, BBC India’s head, by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs will closely monitor future reporting to ensure accurate terminology.

Meanwhile, the government has also banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including prominent names like Ary News and Geo News, for spreading misinformation and provocative content aimed at India and its security forces.

The Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, is considered one of the most devastating civilian attacks since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Prime Minister Modi has vowed to bring the perpetrators and their backers to justice, reiterating India’s unified stance against terrorism. Several countermeasures, such as suspending the Indus Water Treaty and closing the Attari Check Post, have already been put into action.
