The announcement was made by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who shared the news on social media, sparking widespread celebration among scholars, artists, and cultural enthusiasts. PM Modi emphasised the profound impact of these ancient texts, stating that they have nurtured civilisation and consciousness for centuries.

The Bhagavad Gita, an integral part of the Mahabharata, offers deep philosophical insights, guiding millions worldwide on ethics and duty. Meanwhile, Natyashastra, often considered the foundation of Indian performing arts, has shaped theatrical traditions across the globe. Their inclusion in UNESCO’s register further cements their influence on global thought and artistic expression.

This recognition serves as a reminder of India’s intellectual and artistic contributions, inspiring scholars to continue exploring the enduring relevance of these texts in modern times.
