In yet another anti-corruption crackdown, Odisha Vigilance officials have apprehended Rajesh Kumar Srichandan, a Sub-Inspector of Police from Sarankul Police Station in Nayagarh district, while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹4,000.

The accused officer, Rajesh Kumar Srichandan (2017 batch), was reportedly accepting a bribe from a complainant to favour the complainant’s father in an ongoing case registered at Sarankul PS. Srichandan was the Investigating Officer of the case and allegedly sought money to assist.

The vigilance team, acting upon a prior complaint, set a trap operation and successfully caught the officer red-handed. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized as evidence.

Following the arrest, simultaneous search operations are being conducted at two locations linked to Srichandan to investigate potential disproportionate assets (DA).

Odisha Vigilance is aggressively pursuing leads to determine whether the officer was involved in more unethical financial dealings.

A case has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 07/2025) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and an investigation is in progress.

Odisha Vigilance has been at the forefront of cracking down on corrupt practices within law enforcement and other government sectors. This latest arrest underscores their dedicated efforts to uphold integrity and transparency within the police force.

The agency continues to encourage citizens to report any bribery or corruption-related incidents, ensuring a cleaner governance system.
