Bringing major relief to local residents, the Khordha police have successfully busted a notorious inter-district jewellery theft network responsible for a series of high-profile heists.
Twelve individuals hailing from Ganjam, Khordha, and Puri districts have been arrested in connection with the crimes.
Over the past two months, a wave of brazen break-ins and robberies targeted gold and silver ornaments across the Banapur, Balugaon, Tangi, and Nachuni police station jurisdictions. The string of continuous thefts had sparked panic among local residents and business owners, creating deep concerns over public safety and security in the region.
Taking serious note of the recurring crimes, the Khordha police launched a coordinated, intensive investigation to track down the culprits. Through meticulous tracking and intelligence-gathering, authorities successfully identified and cornered the members of the active criminal syndicate.
Massive Recovery of Stolen Ornaments
In a significant breakthrough, the police crackdown yielded a massive haul of stolen valuables. Authorities successfully seized 500 grams of gold and a staggering 11 kilograms of silver ornaments from the possession of the arrested accused. Police are currently working to trace the rightful owners of the recovered jewellery through ongoing verification procedures.
Further interrogation and investigation are currently underway to uncover potential links to other unsolved cases or wider criminal networks operating across neighbouring districts.
