The Ministry of Rural Development has officially notified the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB–G RAM G – Grievance Redressal Rules, 2026.

The new framework establishes a strict, time-bound, multi-tier mechanism across Gram Panchayats, Blocks, and Districts to ensure rural households receive prompt solutions to operational and entitlement issues.

Under the notified rules, designated Grievance Redressal Officers (GROs) at various administrative levels will be responsible for receiving, investigating, and resolving complaints. Oversight at the district level will be anchored by the District Programme Coordinator, ensuring seamless integration with the newly designated Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

Universal Access and Multiple Submission Channels

To remove entry barriers for rural citizens, the rules permit grievance submissions through diverse physical and digital channels:

  • Direct in-person submission before designated GROs.

  • Physical delivery via Speed Post with proof of delivery.

  • Online filing via the Central Government’s dedicated DPI platform.

  • Telephonic submissions through designated helplines or state-approved modes.

Crucially, the regulation mandates that no grievance can be rejected due to formatting errors, language choice, submission mode, or procedural flaws. All physical applications received at any level must be digitised and registered on the DPI platform on the day of receipt or by the next working day, generating an immediate electronic or physical acknowledgement receipt with a unique tracking number.

Fast-Track Timelines: 7 Days for Enquiry, 15 Days for Resolution

The cornerstone of the 2026 Rules is its uncompromising timeline for redressal:

  • Enquiry Window: Investigating officers must review records, collect electronic data, and complete the formal enquiry within 7 working days. Complainants are guaranteed a fair opportunity to present their case in person or via digital media.

  • Final Resolution: Remedial action must be executed and the grievance fully resolved within 15 calendar days from the initial receipt date.

Findings and actions taken will be logged into the central DPI system and formally communicated to the complainant in both electronic and physical formats where applicable.

Automatic Escalation and Appeal Provisions

To tackle administrative inertia, any complaint remaining unresolved beyond the 15-day limit will automatically escalate to the next higher authority via the digital platform. Unresolved cases will remain under continuous electronic monitoring until full resolution is achieved.

Additionally, the rules incorporate provisions for formal appeals against orders passed by grievance authorities, structured under Schedule I of the parent VB–G RAM G Act, 2025.

By standardising digital tracking and instituting tight operational windows, the Government aims to convert statutory rural entitlements into an enforceable, transparent reality for millions across the nation.
