Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced a five-year age relaxation for candidates applying for government jobs, providing major relief to job aspirants across the state.
The decision follows widespread representations from candidates seeking an extension in the upper age limit for competitive examinations, according to sources.
The newly introduced five-year concession will apply over and above the existing age relaxations currently permitted under state rules. Comprehensive guidelines detailing applicant categories and implementation procedures are expected to be released shortly.
This announcement builds upon a series of policy measures rolled out since the administration assumed office, marked recently by its 100-day governance milestone.
Key administrative actions under the current leadership include raising free domestic electricity from 100 to 200 units bi-monthly, shutting down 717 TASMAC liquor outlets near schools and religious sites, and launching a dedicated women’s safety force.
Other notable initiatives feature expanded student breakfast and laptop distribution programs, cooperative farm loan waivers benefiting over 13 lakh farmers, and targeted assistance schemes for newborns and families.
