Taking a commendable step toward animal welfare, the Jharsuguda district administration has launched a comprehensive initiative to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide healthcare for stray cattle.
Guided by the direct intervention of District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan, these helpless bovines are now being provided safe shelter and complete care.
The rescued cattle have been safely housed at the Shree Krishna Goshala, where their health and well-being are closely monitored. To ensure their proper upkeep, a special medical team from the District Veterinary Department regularly visits the shelter to conduct thorough health check-ups.
During these inspections, cattle injured on the streets or during rescue operations are quickly identified and given immediate medical attention, including wound dressing and necessary medicines. Additionally, the administration has ensured an uninterrupted supply of nutritious fodder—including green grass, dry straw, and bran—to help the animals recover and maintain good health.
District Collector Chavan has issued strict directives ensuring zero negligence in the cattle’s treatment and food supply. The veterinary team and livestock inspectors have been instructed to remain vigilant, conduct regular reviews, and maintain strict hygiene within the shelter premises.
Highlighting the severe traffic congestion and fatal road accidents caused by stray animals, the district administration has also issued a strong appeal to cattle rearers and owners, urging them to act responsibly and not abandon their livestock on the streets.
