In response to the impending threat of Cyclone Arnab, district authorities across Odisha have announced school closures and heightened precautionary measures to ensure student safety.
Following Puri, district administrations in Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagada, Kalahandi, and Nuapada have ordered the shutdown of educational institutions and Anganwadi centres.
In Puri, Jagatsinghpur, and Nayagada, all schools and Anganwadi centres will remain closed for two days—today and tomorrow.
Similarly, in Nuapada district, the administration has declared a two-day holiday covering both schools and colleges. In Khordha district, schools from Shishu Vatika up to Class 12 will remain shut starting at 1 PM today and continuing through tomorrow.
However, the District Education Officer (DEO) has directed teachers to report for duty as usual.
Meanwhile, Kalahandi Collector has announced the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres tomorrow to safeguard against potential severe weather conditions.
Local administrations across the state are closely monitoring the movement of Cyclone Arnab and taking necessary emergency measures to minimise risk and manage any potential disruptions effectively.
