In view of the potential threat posed by Cyclone Arnab, the Kataka District Collector has ordered the closure of all educational institutions across the district tomorrow as a precautionary measure.
The shutdown applies to both government and private schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres to ensure the safety of students and staff.
To mitigate potential disaster risks, district authorities have directed the immediate evacuation of residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to temporary relief centres.
Emergency preparedness has been significantly ramped up, with three Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams deployed to strategic, high-risk zones across the district to manage immediate search, rescue, and clear-up operations.
Additionally, the district administration has set up two 24×7 emergency control rooms to monitor weather developments, coordinate relief efforts, and respond swiftly to public distress calls.
Officials have urged citizens to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and adhere to official advisories issued by the disaster management authorities.
