Action star Vidyut Jammwal, who recently made his international debut with Street Fighter, has opened up about the key differences he observed between Indian and international film productions, pointing to strict discipline, punctuality, and professional boundaries as defining features of Hollywood sets.
Punctuality and Clear Departmental Boundaries
Reflecting on his experience abroad, Jammwal highlighted that while Indian cinema regularly mounts world-class action sequences with top-tier international and domestic talent, the structural discipline in international productions stands apart.
”On an international film set, the idea of being not on time doesn’t exist,” Jammwal stated. “You could be a 50 Cent, you will not even know that you can come in late. Everyone values the same.”
Jammwal noted that international sets operate with strict legal precision and departmental accountability, where crew members stick strictly to their designated roles without overlapping.
”Here, every department is supposed to take responsibility of their job. Like, a stylist could not come and tell the artist that your hair is not right or vice versa… These small imperceptible details really make them far superior in the way they make cinema,” he added.
Camaraderie and Professional Insecurity
Beyond the technical operations, the actor was struck by the work culture and camaraderie among male co-stars during readings and production. He observed a complete lack of insecurity or intrusive behavior among cast members.
”Nobody’s insecure, nobody’s really trying to know what’s happening in somebody else’s life,” Jammwal shared, describing the professional environment during cast script readings as both refreshing and inspiring.
