Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Sunday, October 25, 2026, that modern conflict has transcended conventional warfare, warning that a nation’s economic stability can be severely undermined through targeted digital aggression.
Inauguration of RBI Data Centre and Cybersecurity Institute
Speaking in Bhubaneswar after inaugurating the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) ₹169-crore state-of-the-art Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the urgency of safeguarding India’s financial infrastructure against cybercriminals and cyberterrorists.
”As India grows stronger economically, protecting our banking system from cybercriminals and cyberterrorists becomes equally essential,” PM Modi stated. “Wars are no longer fought with weapons alone; a country can also be weakened by attacking its economy.”
The Prime Minister stressed that India cannot confront evolving digital challenges using outdated tools or infrastructure. The new RBI facilities in Bhubaneswar are designed to bolster the resilience, security, and computing capacity of the nation’s financial network.
Financial Inclusion and the Growth of Eastern India
Highlighting the transformation of India’s banking ecosystem, PM Modi noted that nearly 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts now ensure direct benefit transfers to citizens without leakage.
”It was from the soil of Odisha that a former prime minister once said that when ₹1 was sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reached the people. Today, things are different. Now, when ₹1 leaves Delhi, the entire ₹1 reaches the bank account of the intended beneficiary,” the Prime Minister remarked.
PM Modi projected eastern India as a crucial engine for the nation’s economic development, emphasizing that Odisha’s growth is increasingly driven by technology alongside its traditional mineral wealth.
